So fast. So swiftly. So silently.
A year has passed.
I'm no longer lower Sec.
Finished my streaming.
Chosen subjects that determine my career.
All gone in the blink of an eye.
School Days
I'd gone to school in Corp Tee, cos Shreyas told me so. So well even though we were supposed to be in it the majority of the school wasn't.
I stayed in class savouring the memories. Duty. Times after NCC, slacking in class half-changed.
Our CT and PCT, Ms Kavita and Mdm Lin Hui, on the last day of school, made us clean up and clear out our lockers.
Stayed in class watching Arul play DotA with Pratheesh, Nic and Hemanth, with Mark's guidance. Darren came to get me for shooting, but I had a number of reasons not to go.
1. Tired from Orienteering competition, 24Oct.
2. Injured. Neck strain, back strain,
3. I wanted to stay in school to see my new CT/PCT, and get the booklist. My mum agreed.
So Joel and I stayed in class.
Recess was the last soccer we ever had. Since ACS(Pri) boys were around to view the school, the astro was mostly taken. So we played by the side of the field.
Mark, surprisingly, took over the role of goalkeeper from the usual YuShiang/Ben/Mingyang and the not so usual Swathikan. He joins the league of players in our soon-to-be extinct class who can play at all roles on the field, and play them well.
We had an hour of fun. Mark, Nic, Arul, Kevin, Ben. Those were our players.
Soon it was time to move to our new classes. Ms Kavita checked the lockers, then made us line up in twos with what were supposedly our tables. You see, ACS(Indep) has this policy of giving us tables in year 1 that follow us, and must be kept in tip-top condition till year 4. But, you see, our classrooms are constantly used for O-level/church activities, they all get messed up pretty quickly. As a matter of fact, I remember losing my table somewhere mid-year last year. Cos they even drag them to other classes.
Went to 3.11. It's near the central staircase on yellow level ;D
Booked a seat at the back near Nic Lee. Not like I want him near me, but there wasn't any choice.
WeiRen sits beside me. :o. Might be irritating.
Nevermind. Koonmin booked his place beside mine ;D
Good 2.10 friends.
Mrs Evelyn Tan and Mr Kenneth Ong (Oh, that blur guy! [refer to Mid-year 2007 Maths paper post]) are our new CT/PCTs.
Kenneth Ong wrote:
I am Mr Kenneth Ong.
I am fierce.
HAHAHAHA. See his face and you know he isn't.
Then he gave out worksheets for Advanced Maths for those who wanted them, so I got a set for Koonmin too, but some of them only had one, or even no worksheets left. Then Koonmin took those that had one left, and gave me none. Pfft. Haha.
Peter Isaac Koh is Malaysian :o
Which is why he makes friends with Jaira (hahaha)
Mrs Evelyn Tan made us remember some things.
Day 1 of school.
Passports. 2 books to give to the people in Chiangmai. And gave us the booklist.
Wanted us to cheer for 3.11 Elisha.
Voted the new Chairman/Vice-chairman, which turned out to be Kenneth Lim (Kenneth Ong wrote that Kenneth had a nice name) and Leon Chng (who Kenneth Ong wrote as Ch'ng, circled the apostrophe as remove, and Mrs Evelyn Tan pronounced as Layong Chink) respectively.
Went around a few classes after that, managed to talk to quite a number of people. Ben Wee, Junyi...
Poor Junyi. He misses his class, and then when he had them he complained about them.
Decided to play soccer at the basketball court after school for a while, to relive the memories for a last time.
A kind of darkness hung over us...the thought that we might never get to play again in the same circumstances, as a class plain complaining about the CT.
Finished after 45min, bought a drink and a snack, then walked with Swathikan towards MRT and home.
On the MRT we talked a lot. What we were gonna do. How we missed the year. How Swathikan is gonna train up his body. How he's gonna do reading up to be a better prefect.
I totally remember. Last year's last day of school.
Also 26Oct. But it was a Thursday. 27Oct06, a Friday, was given to us as a holiday for the Rugby B Div win.
2.20pm. Swathikan and I rushed to the MRT, rushed home.
It was a gloomy day.
I still remember. How, as Yu Shiang put it, this exact time last year (8.10am) Mrs Panthradil, our 1.13 CT for '06, cried as we gave her a card to send her off. Because, through the year, we had hated her steadily, but finally, as she decided to resign that year, in no small part to us, her worst class ever, we had given her a card that had touched her all the way in and broke her down...
I cannot believe that just 2 years ago I'd just gotten my PSLE results. Called my mum, who wasn't so happy at a 263 while Alex had gotten 271. How Alex promised to give me a gift of cowdung for not going to RI.
How we'd just finished the Sarawak trip (27-30Oct) after PSLE.
How I'd been mad over Dot that time.
How we'd gone to Sarawak to enjoy their culture. Pottery.
How Gabriel and me had been kept up because of the girls never ceasing to call our hotel room phone through the night.
How I'd been shy around girls...immature...so mean to some of the girls.
How we'd loved the flight. How...Primary school life was.
How I'd managed to enjoy the holidays without MSN, without going out with friends.
How I'd gone to TNG Camp '05, for the very first time, at Desaru.
How I'd been touched...slain by the spirit.
How I'd been moved by the enthusiasm of the youth in TNG, Audrey being a symbol of that.
I cannot believe how merely one year ago we were just finishing our first year in Sec 1.13. How we'd found Mrs Panthradil to be an unreasonable bore, who made us copy Life Science notes like mad, until our worksheets were covered with words.
How we'd given her that card, and how she'd cried.
Cannot forget how meaningful TNG Camp '06 was, how we'd played outside our resort rooms till the wee hours, how we got locked out of our rooms. How I'd met Cleo there. How it had rained, but even through the rain we had fun.
How we'd dunked so many people.
I cannot believe how fast this year has passed. Guard of Honour - Founders' Day. SYF - Guitar Orch. Promotion to Corporal. Lim HQ. Silver Wing. NCC Day parade, the first ever at Amoy Quee in NCC History. Mr Lui Tuck Yew, who somehow managed to be the guest of honour for both NCC Day and One ACS National Day celebration. Guard of Honour - National Day (One ACS). How I'd stayed up with Darren cos the room was too noisy, we'd listened to music with my near failing earphones. Went out to buy food to snack on...Went to bathe with Siva in...yes...the girls' bathroom, cos according to our then Staff Rajesh it was such a cleaner place as compared to the boys' toilet downstairs. How we'd found the soap I still keep...
I cannot believe that in a year's time, we'll be getting our long pants. Next year I wouldn't be considered lower Sec anymore.
I cannot believe how, in 2 years' time, we'll be sitting in a class with girls, if all goes well.
How, in 3 years' time, I'll be completing my stay in ACS(Independent). Taking my first exam that will grant me a Diploma.
How, in 4 years' time, I'll be entering NS.
How, in 6 years' time, I'll be entering University with God's blessings.
How, in x years' time, I'll be...in love.
Maybe someday, I'll have to look back on the days of my youth as I grow older...they'll only be memories, nothing I can do anymore...I don't wanna grow old.
Time passes so fast...past, present, future...
Went home and played guitar for a while...I was feeling weird. That the year passed so...fast.
Maybe, as Junyi says, Carpe Diem.
Camp Comm - Missions
Met Jonathan Teng, Lionel, Jon Choy, and Cai Ying for dinner.
Went to buy some tidbits, then went to the water cooler, filled water, got the key from the Security guard, and went up to the conference room - 3rd floor.
JonTeng played with my phone while CaiYing and I went to the church office to see Auntie Sylvia to submit my Missions money balance - $350. Went to talk to Uncle Jeff, who thought he saw me on Facebook. Haha, maybe my friends were nice enough to upload pics of me lorrr.
Heather came when I arrived back, and Jon Teng had used my phone to SMS Choy, who had asked why I'd sent that SMS, which caused the table to laugh.
While we were praying to open the meeting, Grace Chan came. Haha.
So anyway we were introduced to what we were for. We were planning a camp for the Thai people, from the 26th to 28th Dec. WE were the camp comm, cos they thought Sec 2's/Sec 3's should have early experience in planning.
So they split us. Haha, since Lionel was with Heather, Choy made me switch with Lionel.
Maybe Choy knows that Heather and I get along well?
So Heather and I took the slot for the campfire night. 27th Dec. The other group took the icebreaker slot.
Haha I shall keep the details secret so we won't spoil anything. All I will say is, I made the right choice in buying the seaweed flavour chips. Haha, they were d'licious!
Anyway, we settled the next meeting for next Tuesday, though none of the gals would be around. I would have to go after my PSL training.
At this point Heather goes "really? me too! high five!"
Well, Joyce got a Click Five CD autographed at Ministry of Sound. It looks real cool...silver glitter pen!
Fruitful day!
The days...they pass so fast.
